KAETHE-KOLLWITZ-GESAMTSCHULE, DAMMWIESE 8, LUENEN, GERMANY
The motto of the Kaethe-Kollwitz-Gesamtschule (secondary comprehensive) is „ School is not just teaching academic values, there is more to it.” Learning processes involve not only thinking, but also emotions and putting things into practice. The social and ethnical diversity of our school is a challenge and awarding at the same time. The different talents and interests are being recognized and find support. Our aim is that the students deal confidently with the challenges of life. The school is situated in a former industrial area, the Ruhr-area, where there were many coal-mines and steelworks, which closed down many years ago, but the people are still here. It´s a multi-cultural area, people from eastern Europe, Poland, Russia and southern Europe like Italy, Spain, and Greece live here. The largest ethnical group is from Turkey and only recently we welcomed refugee children from Syria and Iraq. At our school are approx. 65 % students from migrant backgrounds. Within the school-life they are well integrated and they enrich our school - life. Our motivation: Kaethe–Kollwitzsecondary comprehensive school has no previous experience in any European projects. The teachers and students are highly motivated in taking part in this Erasmus+ project, Digital Learning. The teacher who coordinates the project has been involved in Comenius and Erasmus projects, so we will be well supported. We have about 90 IPads and 3 computer rooms at school. The teachers and students involved have already a fair share of digital competence, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. We think this project is quite innovative from the point of view of the high percentage of practical content it contains. We not only want our students to learn what teachers tell them, we want them to be the main character in everything we do. The students will share their results via social media, etwinning, skype or facebook. They will communicate in English so the whole project reaches international, global dimensions We focus mainly on: -Social abilities –Health and drug prevention programs -Innovative methodological approaches -Early school drop out - Conflict management in the classroom -ICT tools, educational apps and social media –Gender equality and violence prevention -Career advise Staff involved in the project Our qualified multidisciplinary staff comprises of teachers, social workers and career advisers. They are able to support our project fully. Teachers – ICT, English language teachers, Teachers of Economics Social workers involved in the social welfare of our students -Careers advisers: keep in touch with companies, find placements for the students, support the students, if problems occur. Activities and Experiencies of our organization in the area relevant for this project We are well equipped with ICTtools and aim at the acquisition of intercultural communication skills.
GYMNAZIUM, CESKE BUDEJOVICE, JIROVCOVA 8, CZECH REPUBLIC
Gymnazium České Budějovice, Jirovcova 8 is a prestigious secondary grammar school with
numerous successes exceeding the regional significance. The total capacity ranges of about 450 students each year. The course of education is realized at four-year and eight-year grammar school curriculum programme on the basis of a broad range of general and optional subjects that allow students to develop their own interests and mould the way of the professional career especially in the last two years of their studies. Why we want to participate? Digital technologies are becoming an everyday part of school life and provide us with opportunities that were not previously possible. By efficient using ICT technologies, we can increase the efficiency of teaching and offer pupils education of a different type. By using ICT technologies, we can shorten distance between nations and teach at a distance, for example, by using CLIL method. Our school is partly focused on teaching ICT and our teachers would like to use these technologies even more in teaching and share their experiences with other project participants. It is especially important to share the specific experience of teaching with other teachers. What we bring to the project The basis for the successful project is to establish professional research team. Gymnazium Jirovcova and its research team members will bring experiences from previous projects realised within the framework of European funds. The team having participated on the project remains stable and the previous experience will be transferred to the current project Erasmus+. Gymnasium will bring well-equipped ICT classrooms into the project, work on a portable laptop classroom, or use a specializedclassroom for 3D printing for the purpose of the project. Staff members remain stable for a long time and all the teachers only teach the subjects which they have obtained a university diploma qualification for. All the selected teachers want to be involved in the project and it is crucial that one of the participants is also an ICT teacher who will be capable to suitably support the activities. It is also important that the school management is inclined
towards similar activities and regularly supports the involvement both students and school staff.
RASEINIU R. GIRKALNIO PAGRINDINE MOKYKLA, SETUPIO G. 61, GIRKALNIS, LITHUANIA
Girkalnis basic school is situated in Raseiniai district, Kaunas County. The school provides preschool, primary and basic (low secondary) education. The pre-school education was started to provide from 1 January 2018 as the Kindergarten has been incorporated into the Girkalnis basic school. There are 168 students from 3 to 16 years old. The students live in Girkalnis village or in the smaller villages situated close to Girkalnis. Many families of our students (around 40%) re-ceive social welfare from the state. There are 20 students with SEN in the school. 32 pedagogues and 14 help workers work in two buildings. Our school is a learning organization: it carried out nu-merous of national and international projects. The pedagogical staff of the Girkalnis school is highly motivated, hardworking and experienced. Teachers have created a team that is interested in innovation, new pedagogical tools and approaches and the use of ICT in education. The team shares the experience gained in various training and personal achievements. The school is opened for innovations and new experiences. The pedagogical staff is skilled in using ICT in edu-cation and is ready to help students to increase their digital competences. The school is equipped with computers in each classroom, the Internet connection, there are the set of tablets (15 pieces), 8 smart boards, ICT classroom, teachers' computer room. Our learners are to be fully functional citizens in the 21st century, they need digital skills. We can promote these skills in parallel with teaching many subjects, as English, history, geography, sci-ence, maths etc. By integrating digital literacy work into our Project and school subjects, we can make them a little more relevant to who are learners are once they are outside the school environ-ment. An English teacher is experienced in international projects, she has been a coordinator of Come-nius, Erasmus+ KA1 and KA2 projects, won eTwinning prize 2017.
There are many teachers who already worked on international projects. If an English teacher will leave the school a biology teacher will take over the role, she is an active and experienced person. Our school has participated in a row of projects, as national and international level. We were involved in Comenius multilateral (2011-2013) and bilateral (2013-2015), Erasmus+ KA1 (2014-2015), (2016-2017) and KA2 (2015-2017) projects. Both KA1 projects were aimed to develop digi-tal skills of the staff, the team of those project prepared and provided two workshops for the teach-ers from the school and region schools. The teachers completed European schoolnet Academy platform training courses online ‘Collaborative Teaching and Learning’, ‘Developing Digital Skills in your Classroom’, ‘Creative use of Tablets in School’ and British Council course ‘Teaching for suc-cess’.

Pietro Vanni Institute is a public middle school, with about five hundred students aged 11 to 14 and fifty teachers. The school is part of a comprehensive institute that includes a kindergarten with eighty children and a primary school with about a hundred and ninety children. The schoolis located inViterbo, a city of Etruscan and Roman origins. Viterbo is 80 Km north of Rome. Developing citizenship awareness, responsibility and self-regulation skills are the main goals of the Institute, which is working to affirm the central role of school in society to counteract social and cultural inequalities, to prevent school abandon, to create an open school as a permanent laboratory for research, experimentation and idactic innovation, to guarantee integration and equal opportunities, even to special need students, for a successful education as citizens. Science teachers are working to reorganize and improve external areas, spaces and structures of the Institute, even involving families and experts. Activities are also integrated with a project in partnership with the Alpine Italian Club volunteers about recycling. • The Project"Discover how it is done!" consists in the exploration of the microscopic world, in collaboration with Tuscia University for Laboratory Activity. • Orientation Our school is trying to keep an open dialogue with higher education institutions, through agreements and collaborations, in order to monitor the educational effectiveness of teaching, pupils' aptitudes and talents. Teachers organize interviews with families to discover different professions. They visit a few secondary schools and participate in the lessons.
MAKBULE ORMAN SECONDARY SCHOOL, HÜRRIYET MAHALLESI, KARAMAN, TURKEY
Our school is located in the center of Karaman. We welcome students coming from socioeconomically poor families and we also have some immigrant students. Number of staff :33 Number of students:500 There is a science and ICT lab,canteen, table tennis ,football and basketball ground in the garden where students can have fun times in the breaks and after school. Makbule Orman Secondary School is not only an education center but also a fun center. Students have the opportunity of attending many courses and clubs according to their interest. There are swimming,chess,music and table tennis clubs without any charge. In addition to it, they can take courses in any subject they want ranging from Turkish to Science at the weekends. We also organize festivals every month (Corn festival,frienship festival,etc.) Thanks to the festivals, we raise money and support poor students and their families financially. Families appreciate our effort which makes us happy. Whereby we set up the communication bridge with parents. We want to benefit from Technology as much possible to create a fruitful learning and teaching environment.
